While the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is ongoing, Russian news resources are spreading theses like "Ukrainian military personnel are surrendering en masse". According to Russians, the military just wants to live, and the only way to survive and not get into the "Russian meat grinder" is to surrender. Is it really so? Did Russian journalists distort the facts and interpret history in their own way? Trybun analyzed the facts and fakes.
"Russian capture is the only salvation for the Ukrainian military," — the Russians themselves believe in this and create relevant news. Ukrainians allegedlly surrender to the Russian army in order to stay alive. This is "the only chance" to save life. Russians say that commanders mercilessly throw Ukrainian soldiers into battle without reinforcements. The propagandists even recorded an interview with a supposed Ukrainian military man who was a prisoner of war.
The man was mobilized unexpectedly. He only went to the store to top up his mobile account, and he was bundled into a car and taken away. He said that the commanders forced to go on the offensive and did not provide reinforcements, and when a mine blew up, no one came to the rescue. However, the Russians came and "rescued" him- took him captive.
The fake prisoner advises everyone to surrender to save lives. Another pseudo-prisoner says that the commanders allegedly cannot give specific tasks and because of this they have psychological fatigue.
Such news filled the Russian information space. Another information channel tells about the capture of a whole brigade of Ukrainian soldiers. The channel even published a video allegedly with a Ukrainian military officer. The man says that the commanders' mission was failed, and the unit was defeated.Imagine a pseudo-prisoner thanking the Russians from the bottom of his heart for taking him prisoner.
Here is another "confession of a Ukrainian military officer". He talks about the incompetence of the command, the lack of promises and care for his subordinates.
"If they say that there will be artillery support tomorrow, then it should be, and not so that it fell for five minutes - and that's it"
According to the fake prisoner, reinforcements may not come at all. However, the man praises the organization and work of the Russian military. It seems that the work there is organized and clear, they work like a Swiss watch.
"I don't know what the top leadership is doing, but ours are extremely incompetent, there are very few soldiers," - the Ukrainian soldier who was captured during the so-called "counteroffensive" said.
The man emphasized that allegedly everything is not right in the Ukrainian army. They say there is no order, and the wounded are left to die on the battlefield.
"A mess is a mess. If everyone was in charge of one grouping center, perhaps the assault would have been successful. Some went in, received and ran away - instead of taking out the wounded and staying at the fixed border, they simply left their positions."
However, Russian propaganda media have been spreading similar news since the beginning of the war.In the spring of last year, they spread the news about the capture of an entire battalion of Ukrainian marines. Allegedly, 264 Ukrainian infantrymen simply surrendered to the Russians after the death of their commander.
Later, this information was denied by the fighters of the allegedly captured battalion on their Facebook page.
After some time they published the refutation on the Telegram page to clarify that there are actually no Ukrainian infantrymen in the video. In addition, the facts of the theft of Ukrainian military uniforms, in particular at the bases of the Azov regiment, were repeatedly recorded. The Russians might simply changed into civilian uniforms and recorded a video of what Ukrainian military personnel appear to be.
In addition, it was previously proven that the Russians en masse captured local residents in captured Ukrainian settlements. They dressed them in military uniforms and forced them to record videos, playing the role of Ukrainian soldiers.
Therefore, all the heroes of the videos that the Russian media and the Russian Ministry of Defense so painstakingly record and show might be frightened civilians in disguise. Russian authorities and journalists use any methods to justify their defeats in the war. After all, Russian soldiers surrendered en masse with raised hands, especially before the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. In March of this year Russian militants even broke their own record. More than 3,000 terrorists of the aggressor country wanted to be captured by Ukraine under the "I want to live" program in order to save their lives. This was reported by the representative of the organization Vitalii Matvienko.
