Russian propagandists still cannot come to terms with the fact that Western partners are providing aid to Ukraine despite the duration of the conflict. Moreover, the European Parliament is working on Ukraine's accession to the EU and this institution also calls on NATO to pave the way for the country's invitation to the Alliance. Using a few pro-Russian politicians and fictional media, Russian propagandists are actively spreading fakes in order to create a picture of deteriorating relations between the partners.
TRYBUN found out what the Russians were lying about and destroyed these fakes.
FAKE: Europe states that peace is possible only on Russia's terms
One of the main faces of Russian propaganda - Volodymyr Soloviov for some reason tries to convince his own audience that the European deputies are completely on the side of the Russian Federation, they supposedly
support the ceasefire, the recognition of the rights of the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine and the fulfillment of the allegedly "legitimate" security requirements of the aggressor country.
Whose message is the Russian trying to spread?
This is Herve Juvin, and he is indeed a member of the European Parliament from the far-right faction "Identity and Democracy".This is the same French party whose members participated in fake missions to monitor illegal elections and referendums in the temporarily occupied Crimea.In particular, he travelled to Crimea for a referendum on changes to the Constitution of the Russian Federation in the summer of 2020 (for which he was recently sanctioned by Ukraine).
He and 8 of his colleagues were blacklisted by the European Parliament and banned from participating in official European Parliament election observation missions until the end of 2021.
In addition, he was one of the 19 members of the European Parliament who refused to establish a special tribunal for Russia and Belarus.From open sources, Herve Juven is known for his anti-American statements, ideas of Eurasianism, in particular, he advocates the rapprochement of Western Europe and Russia.
However, does his opinion represent the opinion of the whole of Europe?
472 members of the European Parliament supported the resolution regarding the creation of a special tribunal for the aggressor countries - the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus;
In the resolution adopted on June 15, 2023 with 425 votes in favor, MEPs call on NATO to pave the way for inviting Ukraine to the Alliance;
The Parliament confirms its support for last year's decision of the European Council to grant Ukraine the status of a candidate for the EU.Deputies express hope for a positive recommendation of the commission when Ukraine successfully fulfills its obligations.They are demanding a clear path to start accession negotiations, which, with enough support, could begin as early as this year.
This is just a series of actions taken by a significant, overwhelming majority of EU parliamentarians who, throughout the full-scale invasion, support Ukrainian struggle against invading Russia.
So, despite the difficult and thorny path to Ukrainian victory, practically all European parliamentarians remain devoted to the values of freedom and independence, and by no means agree to the conditions of the aggressor country.
FAKE: Polish magazine Niezalezny Dziennik Polityczny reports that Ukrainian refugees took part in mass riots in France for money
According to Soloviov, one of the Polish independent political magazines reports that opening the borders to Ukrainian refugees was a mistake, because it is the same as opening the door to hell from which demons will come out. This message gives the impression that the Ukrainian-Polish borders were completely closed before the full-scale Russian invasion.
So what Polish magazine could publish such a headline?
The answer is simple: a magazine that doesn't exist.
Thanks to the conclusions of the current and truly independent Polish publication OKO.press, it became known that the editor-in-chief of the Independent Political Magazine, Adam Kaminski, is a fictitious person, as well as the other journalist mentioned there, Wojciech Brozek.Journalists Patrick Szczepaniak and Konrad Shchygyel discovered that Adam Kaminsky, although he does not exist, has accounts on Twitter and Facebook.For the profiles, a photo of Lithuanian orthopedic doctor Andryus Žukauskas, who has nothing to do with journalism, is used.Due to its disinformation methods and fake news content, the Independent Political Journal is believed to be a portal that spreads Russian disinformation, and it is also suspected of having ties to Russian services.What do Polish publications really write about Ukrainian refugees?The Polish media OKO.press, mentioned above, actively disseminates the stories of Ukrainian refugees who adapted to life in Poland and began to work and help the needy.
In addition, the media is trying to find ways to help refugees who were forced to leave their homes because of Russian aggression.
"We are here together" best describes the state of Polish-Ukrainian relations and, in particular, the attitude towards Ukrainian refugees.No one calls them devils and, even more so, no one accuse them of participating in the French trials for money.
FAKE: Podoliak threatened Europe with a sharp increase in terrorist attacks if the arms supply stops.
Another Russian propaganda Telegram channel, the number of subscribers of which exceeds 15 thousand, spreads the message that the adviser to the Head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podoliak, threatened Europe with a sharp increase in terrorist attacks if EU countries stop supplying weapons to Ukraine.
It is obvious that the administrator of the Telegram channel took the news from a Russian information resource, and we managed to find out from which exactly - it is the site "Rossiyskaya gazeta", which regularly spreads fakes about the Ukrainian government and the army.
However, even on the website, the news sounds different:
Mykhailo Podoliak claims that if the supply of weapons for conducting effective hostilities from Europe to Ukraine is stopped, the war currently underway in Ukraine might move to the territory of the EU countries, but in no way threatens or intimidates European partners.
