Russia continues to carry out massive missile strikes on Ukraine. On the morning of July 8, during the shelling of Kyiv, the National Specialized Children's Hospital "Okhmatdyt" was hit.

According to the Ministry of Health, 2 people were killed and more than 50 injured. The enemy blames the Air Defense Forces for the tragedy (alleging that a Ukrainian missile hit the building) and spreads numerous fakes.

A journalist from TRIBUN analyzed the moment of the shelling, identified the propaganda messages about "Okhmatdyt" that the Russians are spreading, and debunked the fake about the Ukrainian air defense.

After the intense shelling of several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that "the targets have been hit. The designated objects were struck." The enemy referred to "military industrial facilities and Ukrainian Armed Forces air bases."

Russia justified its actions as an alleged "response" to damage inflicted by the Ukrainian side on "Russian energy and economic facilities."

However, these statements are not true. Many civilian objects were affected by the missile attack, resulting in deaths and injuries.

For example, in Dnipro, a nine-story residential building, its roof and technical floor, cars, a two-story car service station building, and an enterprise were damaged and destroyed.

In Kryvyi Rih, an enterprise was damaged. The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region reported that "11 people were killed, 71 were injured of varying severity, and 8 people were rescued."

Kyiv also suffered horrific consequences. Residential buildings, garages, cars, and an enterprise were damaged or destroyed. The Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv stated that "27 people, including 4 children, were killed, 117 were injured, and 7 people were rescued." However, rescue operations are still ongoing.

These facts confirm that Russia is deliberately carrying out "missile terror" against cities and civilians.

"Okhmatdyt" Hit by "Ukrainian Air Defense Missile"

The tragic event on July 8, 2024, was the impact of a Russian missile on the National Specialized Children's Hospital "Okhmatdyt." This incident drew the attention of the international community.

Russia spread misinformation claiming that the hospital was hit by a Ukrainian air defense missile. However, investigations and evidence confirmed that it was a Russian missile that caused the damage. The Ministry of Health reported 2 deaths and over 50 injuries due to this attack.

This attack on a children's hospital is a clear example of the ongoing missile terror being waged against Ukrainian civilians by Russia.

The Russian Ministry of Defense does not acknowledge its involvement and blames Ukrainian air defense, commenting that "numerous published photos and video footage from Kyiv unequivocally confirm the fact of destruction due to the fall of a Ukrainian air defense missile launched from an anti-aircraft missile system within the city."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation also claims that "once again, as has repeatedly happened with Ukrainian air defense, their missiles went off course and hit residential buildings and social institutions... one of the missiles from the Western NASAMS air defense system struck a building on the grounds of the children's hospital 'Okhmatdyt' in Kyiv."

It is important to note that the comments from the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are a clear example of Russian propaganda, as they contain fake information, manipulative facts, and "labels."

For example, terms like "Banderites deliberately place air defense systems in residential areas, using civilians as 'human shields,'" "Kyiv junta," "Ukrainian Armed Forces hide behind civilians and objects," "Nazi essence," and others.

These statements are part of a disinformation campaign aimed at justifying their actions and shifting blame onto Ukraine.

The Fake Story about Ukrainian Air Defense Hitting "Okhmatdyt" was Also Spread on Other Russian Information Resources

"What really happened: Russia struck with a Kh-101 missile at 'Okhmatdyt' hospital.

During the missile attack on Kyiv, a video appeared on social media showing a direct hit of a missile on a children's hospital, followed by smoke rising."

The Security Service of Ukraine has determined that "for the fire impact on medical facilities, the occupiers used a strategic cruise missile Kh-101." Evidence of this includes "fragments of the rear part of the Kh-101 missile with serial number and a part of the rudder of the same missile."

At the time of the explosion, according to the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt," there were 627 children in the building. Over 50 people were injured, and 2 people lost their lives.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of shelling the children's hospital and assured that "Okhmatdyt" will be restored.

Therefore, the aforementioned facts confirm that the strike on "Okhmatdyt" was carried out by Russia. This has led to horrifying and, in some cases, irreparable consequences.
