The cities are destroyed, nothing works, the people who are left have nothing to eat and they fight in lines for free food. Residents of many "liberated" settlements of in Luhansk oblast face these realities. The situation in towns and villages in most of the oblast remains critical a year after the occupation.
The review of "TRYBUN" is about it
Rubizhne
Today Rubizhne in Luhansk oblast is one of the cities that is greatly destroyed by the Russians in eastern Ukraine. Before the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion more than 50 thousand people lived there. According to various sources, that much population remains today in the entire occupied Sievierodonetsk raion.
Almost the entire infrastructure has been destroyed in the city, there is no work and normal medicine.
Today Rubizhne is another hub of the Russian Armed Forces: equipment in residential areas and Russian military personnel quartered in the homes of civilians.
Of course, "return to normal life" promised by the Russians is false, but in words they even developed a master plan.
As painful as it is, Rubizhne is still in ruins:
Its residents stand in endless queues for food right in the center of the city:
The Center for Countering Disinformation reports that the Russians are threatening people in Rubizhne not to provide humanitarian aid.In this way, the occupiers intensify repression against the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territory due to resistance to forced passporting.
And this despite the fact that there is no work in the city.
Sievierodonetsk
In neighboring Sievierodonetsk, which was occupied exactly one year ago, the situation is somewhat better. Activities to improve the quality of life of citizens are at least imitated in the city. However, a similar picture can be observed there as well.
While the destroyed city is drowning in garbage, the Russians are conducting one propaganda event after another.
Let's pay attention to another interesting point. Even newspapers with propaganda have to be bought with money in the city. At the beginning of the invasion, newspapers were distributed on the streets together with tricolors and St. George's ribbons free of charge.

Lysyсhansk
Lysychansk in Luhansk oblast became the last large city occupied by the Russians. At the same time, it was the least affected by the fighting compared to other cities of the oblast — Popasna, Rubizhne, Sievierodonetsk. It is easier to bring the city back to life because of less destruction.
Festive slogans are printed in the columns of propaganda newspapers, but the residents of Lysychansk have been without electricity and drinking water for a year.

The situation is worse than in the cities of the "chemical triangle" only in small villages captured by Russia. People are in complete information isolation there.
Nyzhnia Duvanka is a village in the Svatove raion, which has been under the control of the Russians since March 2022. According to locals, there are very few people left in the settlement, mostly pensioners. The occupiers moved into the houses of people who temporarily left. It was there that the Russians recently executed a man for his pro-Ukrainian position.
We managed to get a photo of the settlement from our own sources:
Toshkivka
Russian writer Maksym Kalashnikov showed life in the “liberated” Donbas. In the village of Toshkivka, Luhansk oblast, the occupiers destroyed all the houses from the TOS “Sontsepiok”. Survivors huddle in the ruins of their homes without electricity, gas, or water. There is no work, all enterprises are destroyed. Of the 4,000 inhabitants, 170 remained – the rest either died or fled “to Banderite”.The Russian military is looting and stealing everything they can find in the ruins. No recovery occurs. The Russian authorities do not need the destroyed territory.
Kalashnikov admits that local residents hate Russia and cannot understand why all this was done to them.
Video from the YouTube channel of Denys Kazanskyi: “What did we do, everything was destroyed right away!” A Russian blogger came to Donbas and he was horrified.
Popasna
And, of course, we should not forget about the completely destroyed Popasna. This city is not going to be rebuilt, there is no electricity, water, or gas. People live in heaps, no store or pharmacy is open, they eat only humanitarian food, which is sometimes brought into the city. Generators are used, but it is also difficult to get gasoline for it.
The Russian occupiers destroyed Popasna, and now they continue to abuse the people who remained there. Propagandists write about 84 issued passports of the Russian Federation. We cannot rely on their data, but the process of forced passporting is fixed throughout the territory of the occupied Luhansk oblast. In some places, a Russian passport is required to receive humanitarian aid. According to the latest data, about 200 people are living in Popasna now.
