Realities of life in occupied Luhansk that propagandists won't tell you about

Luhansk is drowning in garbage, people are forced to stay without water for weeks, roads are being destroyed, and there is no proper healthcare. The occupying "administration" is not responding - pseudo-officials are busy "rebuilding" certain parts of the city for further demonstrative reports.

Read more about this in the article of “TRIBUN”.

The news from pro-Russian media is full of headlines about the "reconstruction" of Luhansk. Indeed, roads, parks, and "state institutions" are being repaired in some places. However, for the most part, all these works are being carried out in the central part of the city to show the "achievements of the young republic" on camera.

Also, only now are they restoring what was built before 2014 by the Ukrainian authorities and was destroyed during the occupation.

In 2022, our interviewee from Svatove district found himself under occupation and had not been in Luhansk for 10 years. He notes that the only changes he has noticed are a large number of Russian vehicles and soldiers and the flags of the so-called “LPR” and Russia at every turn.

Almost nothing has changed in so many years. The only things that have appeared are not our soldiers and Russian flags.

But the occupiers do not think about the lives of ordinary people. On social media, locals complain about weed-covered streets and garbage:

The local "authorities" also do not respond to sewer breaks that destroy the road. People are left without water for a long time.

And this is how one of the playgrounds on Demyokhin Street in the center of Luhansk looks like:

Rats are running around, there is a stench - the occupiers do not care.

They don't care about the condition of the trees either - they just fall.

"The branches are hanging over the playground. They are about to fall. A few days ago, one of the trees fell on the road. It's good that no one was there and no one was hurt. We appealed to the administration - they did not respond," a social media user writes about the situation on Molodizhnyi Square, near house 12.

The problem of healthcare is also acute. The city lacks doctors and nurses.

"They don't let us visit relatives, we can only communicate with the doctor by phone. There are not enough nurses to take care of people. People are lying in dirty diapers and underwear," a woman describes the situation in the 7th city hospital.

People simply die in hospitals without proper medical care.

As a result, Luhansk residents are forced to travel to Russia for more qualified medical care. However, this is not so easy to do. After all, there is still a border between the occupied territories and the Russian Federation and checkpoints are still in place. According to social media, on May 28, there was a line of 150-200 cars at one of these checkpoints. So not everyone can withstand such a journey.

Despite the fact that Luhansk is far from the front line, life in the city is far from being the best.
